There will be some slight overlap but the 2nd half of Ideon is peak Tomino. Your best bet would be to watch A Contact, episodes 23-38, and then Be Invoked. The film splices footage from Space Runaway Ideon (1980) with new footage that fills and rounds out the films story (while also making necessary changes). The first being episode 22 which remade the first 4 or 5 episodes and served as the pivot point for a tonal and story shift in the 2nd half.

I suspect Tomino was unhappy with how the first half of the series panned out and the movie was a 2nd attempt to remake it. For this reason, I wouldn't recommend watching the 2 together if you've never seen the series before. So if you watch it as part of a double feature-as it was released-you will notice a big skip and a lot of missing material.
