These concepts you´re in doubt are pretty basic, so you need more info about it. I hightly recommend you read more articles about the recording, mixing, mastering art. If the final level still low, you can to apply a compressor in it or desctructively to select the audio track and to apply the Normalize command. If you´re using the sounds of your soundcard, check the MIDI and audio volumes of it in the correspondent interface (normally double clicking the icon in the taskbar and choosing the correct levels in the playback/record properties).
So, if you are using an external keyboard or MIDI module, set the output volume in it for to get the correct level at the audio track meter in Sonar (check also the volume in the MIDI track(s) which are playing in Sonar).
